Heather's Story
Heather Thomson has been a fashion designer for over 15 years.
Most recently, she served as Co-Creative Director of House of Deréon, Deréon, and the Miss Tina labels, partnering in the conceptual design and launches of each along with superstar Beyonce Knowles and her designer mother Tina Knowles. Heather has also served as the founding Design Director for P. Diddy Combs' Sean John label.
Heather has been credited with helping the Sean John label earn 3 CFDA nominations and recognition as one of the most successful Men’s apparel launches ever. Heather has also worked side by side with Jennifer Lopez, as Vice President of Creative Design for Ms. Lopez’s Sweetface brand. For several years, Heather has been able to successfully inspire and direct multiple design teams while creating new brands and images.

I designed and created the first Yummie Tummie out of personal need. I just knew there had to be a better and more comfortable way to feel fit and slim. Yummie Tummie was born!
I used to wear tight clothes with confidence, but after my first child was born, my midsection just wasn’t what it used to be. My belly showed under my shirts and the whole experience of dressing left me completely frustrated and exhausted.
Shopping for new clothes was no easier or any less agonizing. I needed to do something to smooth and slim my middle. Finding the time to do more exercise or going on some outrageous diet with a full-time career and a new baby boy was not the answer.
My mother suggested that I find a good girdle and, in fact, I followed her suggestion. It did thin out my trouble spots, but I felt like I was wearing bullet-proof armor.
Every time I hugged someone they would ask, "What do you have on under there?" It was so embarrassing and not exactly the confidence booster I had hoped for. I tried every modern body shaper on the market, but all of them failed miserably. Products that claimed they would slim my midsection were too short and exposed my belly or would roll up only to accentuate my belly…not hide it! I found nothing that worked for me, but I was not willing to accept that there was nothing I could do.
With years of experience designing clothing, I knew I could make a shaper that would actually work with true functionality. I feverishly schemed, cut, and sewed to create something better and new…to create something that actually worked to boost my confidence instead of deflating it. When I completed my vision, I slid on the result and immediately looked thinner. I had smoothed my belly and trimmed inches off my midsection. I felt more confident and was completely comfortable. Moreover, it was impossible to tell that I had a shaper on underneath my clothing at all! The secret hidden panel was the trick. The first Yummie Tummie™ was born.
After my second child, my Yummie Tummie Tank became a staple in my wardrobe. I found myself making up various Yummie Tummie designs that would help smooth and shape my body effectively resulting in products that would work with a variety of looks. My husband and dear friend Michelle finally convinced me that we needed to make Yummie Tummie available for everyone and that is precisely what we did!
